Verdict
Beatoven is a scoring tool wearing the clothes of a music generator. Its one real idea, placing mood changes at specific points inside a single track, is genuinely useful and not available anywhere else on this page.
What it is like to use
You give it a length and then mark where the feeling has to turn: calm for forty seconds, building to sixty-five, resolved by the end. The result comes back shaped to those marks. For anyone cutting a video that is a different kind of control from writing a better prompt, and it is worth more than a better prompt.
The music itself is competent and forgettable. It is not trying to be a song and should not be measured as one, but the ceiling is low enough that you would not release anything from here on its own.
The numbers
Ten dollars a month on Creator, which buys thirty minutes of music. Thirty minutes sounds like a lot until you are making six versions of a ninety-second spot, at which point it is a week. The rights position is clean, with no higher tier hiding the commercial licence.
Strengths and weaknesses
What it does well
- Mood changes can be placed on a timeline inside one track, which the prompt-only tools cannot do.
- A clean royalty-free position without the tier traps that Mubert builds in.
Where it falls down
- Thirty minutes a month runs out quickly at any real production volume.
- The output is functional rather than memorable. Nothing here would survive on its own.
- No vocals.
Should you buy it
Take Beatoven if your music has to follow a timeline rather than fill a background. At any real volume the monthly minute budget is the thing that will push you off it.
